Hi! My name is Al Anderson and this little site is my way of sharing my interest in stargazing with friends, family, and anyone else that stumbles across it. As a child, I loved looking at the night sky and watching meteors. Back then I could see the Milky Way from the near north side of San Antonio and see it as well, if not better, than I can see it from my observatory now. As I grew older and began to understand the scale of our solar system, galaxy and universe, the interest turned into fascination. Looking at a starry sky had a calming effect on me and that continues to this day.
Since early 2005 when my almost 35 year employment with USAA ended as I was nearing retirement eligibility (not an uncommon situation there) I have had a more flexible schedule for visiting my observatory. I also developed other interests that vie for my time; gold prospecting, polymer clay crafts, radio controlled helicopters, and writing a book with a working title of The New Corporatism: Evangelism of Psychopaths.
If you get any enjoyment from this site, feel free to come back. I realize that the pictures don't hold a candle to those taken by NASA, the big observatories, or even many other amateurs. My investment, however, is relatively small.
Please
if you see any problems or errors on this site. For example, a link may go bad and I may not notice it very soon if I don't get told about it.
Thanks for visiting.
